The 78th Army Band said farewell to First Sergeant Tim Pawlik on February 25, 2012 after 27 years of outstanding leadership. During his time in the National Guard and Army Reserve, 1SG (ret) Pawlik served as acting commander of the 307th and 78th Army Bands.

In a farewell message to his soldiers, 1SG (ret) Pawlik shared the following thought:

“As I am now officially retired to the retired reserve I just want to offer a heart felt thank you all for all the support and friendship that you offered me in my career. Without you none of it would have been possible; in so many ways you are the family we always wanted to have. It was your dedication to duty, ability to adapt and overcome and your constant guidance that made whatever small success I had possible.”

At his retirement ceremony, 1SG (ret) Pawlik received his Certificate of Retirement, Meritorious Service Medal, Certificate of Appreciation signed by Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, chief, Army Reserve, and Certificate of Appreciation signed by President Barack Obama presented by Major General William D. Razz Waff, commanding general, 99th Regional Support Command. 1SG (ret) Pawlik was accompanied by his wife Patti and their children Grant and Trevor during the ceremony.

SFC Trevor Sanders, who presented 1SG (ret) Pawlik with an NCO sword on behalf of all the NCOs in the band, will assume the role of acting 1SG for the 78th Army Band.

The 78th Army Band would like to wish 1SG (ret) Pawlik and his family all the best for the future and thank him for the privilege of having served under a man who embodied the very essence of a Non-Commissioned Officer and leader!
