151st ARMY BAND HISTORY

Constituted 1 February 1953 in the Alabama Army National Guard at Mobile, Alabama as the 140th Army Band

Organized and Federally recognized 27 April 1953 at Mobile, Alabama

Reorganized and re-designated 15 December 1953 as the 31st Infantry Division Band (NGUS)

Reorganized and re-designated 15 June 1954 as the 31st Infantry Division Band

Consolidated 15 April 1963 with Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 31st Infantry Division Trains (organized and Federally recognized 11 May 1951 at Selma, Alabama), and consolidated unit reorganized and re-designated as Headquarters, Headquarters and Band, 31st Infantry Division Support Command

Band element ordered into active Federal service 11 June 1963 at Mobile, Alabama; released 23 June 1963 from active Federal service and reverted to state control

Reorganized and re-designated 1 June 1964 as Headquarters, Headquarters Company and Band, 31st Infantry Division Support Command

Band element withdrawn 15 January 1968 from Headquarters, Headquarters Company and Band, 31st Infantry Division Support Command, and reorganized and re-designated as the 151st Army Band; concurrently relieved from assignment to the 31st Infantry Division and changed location to Montgomery, Alabama
