The Iron Soldiers spent two days with American and British students at the American International School in Kuwait City where they conducted clinics and masterclasses for elementary and high school musicians. This soldier-student collaboration culminated in concerts for the entire student body of over 2,200 students. The 1AD Band also spent a day with the Kuwaiti National Guard Band where they exchanged performances of traditional, concert band, and ceremonial music. The jazz combo, Armored Groove, performed at the American Embassy in Kuwait during the Embassy’s social hour as well as for 1AD Soldiers stationed at Camp Buehring.
The highlight performance of the week for the 1AD Band was performing at the Yarmouk Cultural Center, a state of the art performing facility in downtown Kuwait on Friday, October 7. The day began with an interactive concert for Kuwaiti children and finished with a formal concert for an audience of U.S. and Kuwaiti citizens as well as U.S. Army Soldiers.
Through outstanding musicianship, the Soldiers of the First Armored Division Band crossed cultural boundaries and served as ambassadors for the United States, The U.S. Army, U.S. Army Central (USARCENT), the First Armored Division, and the Army Music field.
