Lineage

Organized and federally recognized on 23 June 1940 as 296th Infantry Regiment Band.
Called to active federal service on 15 October 1940 at Camp Tortuguero, Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.
Reorganized and redesignated on 18 December 1943 as 248th Army Band.
Inactivated on 28 february 1946 on Camp O'Reilly, Puerto Rico.
Reorganized and federally recognized on 10 November 1946 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Redesignated on 17 May 1947 as 248th Army Band.
