Organized 29 May 1905 in the North Carolina National Guard at Raleigh as the 3rd Infantry Band

Mustered into Federal service 19 June 1916 at Raleigh and reorganized as the Band Section, Headquarters Company, 3rd Infantry: mustered out of Federal service 27 March 1917

Called into Federal service 25 July 1917: drafted into Federal service 5 August 1917

Redisignated 12 September 1917 as the Band Section, Headquarters Company, 120th Infanctry, an element of the 30th Division

Demobilized 17 April 1919 at Camp Jackson, South Carolina

Reorganized and Federally recongized 2 April 1921 in North Carolina National Guard At Raleigh as the Band Section, Service company, 1st Infantry

Redesignated 8 November 1921 as the Band Section, Service Comapany, 120th Infantry, an element of the 30th Division (later redesignated as the 30th Infantry Division)

Reorganized and redesignated 1 May 1940 as the Band, 120th Infantry

Inducted into Federal service 16 September 1940 at Raleigh

Disbanded 11 August 1943 at Camp Forrest, Tennessee

Reconstituted 25 August 1945: concurrently consolidated with Band, 117th Infantry (Tennessee National Guard - separate lineage), and the Band, 30th Infantry Division (organized 11 August 1943 at Camp Forrest, Tennessee), and consolidated unit redisignated as the 30th Infantry Division Band

30th Infantry Dividsion Band inactivated 17 November 1945 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina

Former Band, 120th Infantry, consolidated 3 August 1946 with the 94th Army Ground Forces Band and consolidated unit disignated as the 94th Army Ground Forces Band

Reorganized and Federally recognized 24 February 1947 at Raleigh

Reorganized and redesignated 28 October 1954 as the 30th Infantry Division Band

Expected, reorganized, and redesignated 1 April 1959 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 30th Infantry Division Trains, and the 30th Infantry Division Band

Reorganized and redesignated 10 March 1963 as Headquarters, Headquarters and Band, 30th Infantry Division Support Command

Reorganized and redesignated 1 March 1964 as Headquarters, Headquarters Company and Band, 30th Infantry Division Support Command

Band element withdrawn 1 December 1971 from Headquarters, Headquarters Company and Band, 30th Infantry Division Support Command, and assigned to the 30th Adjutant General Company

Band element withdrawn 1 December 1973 from the 30th Adjutant General Company and relieved from assignement to the 30th Infantry Division: concurrently reorganized and redesignated as the 440th Army Band

Location Changed 1 January 1989 to Morrisville, NC.

Location Changed November 2011 to JFHQ Raleigh, NC.
