SAN ANDREAS - The 59th Army Band, which is part of the 40th Infantry Division of the California Army National Guard, will perform a free concert at 2 p.m. April 22 at Calaveras High School.

The 40-piece band will be celebrating the retirement of its commander, John W. Monks, and welcoming its new commander, Ronald Wolcott. Wolcott will be the fourth commander in the band's history. The first half of the concert will feature traditional military music, while the second half will be big-band music from the 1940s.
