The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas was the site for the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl where a football game was held to warm the crowd up for the real main event, a halftime show by the Army All-American Marching Band.

The band, comprised of 97 of the top high school senior marching musicians from all over America, was selected on the basis of audio and video audition materials, band director recommendations, academic achievement, and civic contributions, came together for a jam-packed three days of rehearsals. The musicians are brought to San Antonio with all expenses paid by the U.S. Army and have all uniforms and instruments provided.

Soldiers of The U.S. Army Field Band provided the rhythm section for the show as well as a team of clinicians to coach each section.

The show can be viewed at http://www.banddirector.com/article/army-all-american-2009/2009-army-all-american-marching-band. Applications are being accepted for the 2010 band at http://www.menc.org/v/band/u-s-army-all-american-marching-band.
